Trail head Location:
The Taboose Creek Campground turn off is located about halfway between Independence and Big Pine. From Hwy. 395, turn west for 4.2 miles on a dirt/gravel road to the trail head.

Dates open:
Usually from late June through October, depending on the snowpack.

Type of camp:
Backpack 7 miles on a very  strenuous trail. Highest elevation reached is 11,400 feet.

Permits:
Forest service wilderness permit. No campfires.

Comments:
Purify water, watch for bears and pack out all trash.
